Director’s Statement
This film was brought into fruition in late 2016 when the refugee crisis was slowly starting to fade into the backs of people’s mind, and away from the nightly news. When we arrived in Greece, what we saw was a very real, and very immediate need of thousands of people across Greece, and a trend that was happening worldwide. Over the last year and a half, the topics of immigration and the refugee crisis have become more relevant than ever, and we hope that the stories in ‘Refugee Is Not My Name’ will not only prove that the crisis is alive and urgent as ever, but also that the stories of loss and hope don’t belong to just them, but to all of us.
